Stéphanie Descôteaux
President, CEO and Senior Bookkeeper
Stéphanie founded Digits and Decimals Inc. in 2002 and has never looked back. Her vision of a bookkeeping service that truly empowers small business owners and entrepreneurs has commanded an impressive client list that continues to grow.
Stéphanie is committed to lifelong learning and this translates well for clients of Digits and Decimals. Her focus is always on educating clients, improving systems and measuring the accomplishments of those systems.
Prior to establishing Digits and Decimals, Stéphanie worked in hotel management, accounting, office administration and hospitality. Her entrepreneurial instincts were honed while working for her family's business. She holds a technical degree in hotel management and numerous certificates in leadership, management, accounting and payroll. Stéphanie’s professional affiliations include membership in the Canadian Payroll Association and the Canadian Bookkeepers Association. She is also a Certified Advisor with Quickbooks and a Simply Accounting Partner.
Nearly 10 years ago, Stéphanie quit her job, left her native Montreal with a car and just one paycheque and headed for B.C. After using Vancouver as her base for adventures around the world, she finally decided to make it home. Here she enjoys sailing, hiking and the outdoor beauty of the West Coast - that is when she can get away from the office...
Julia Balkwill
Bookkeeper/Customer Service Officer
Julia accepted the role of Bookkeeper/Customer Service Officer for the Digits & Decimals Inc. team in 2007. Julia brings with her to this position over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. Her extensive experience includes employment in Visa/Credit operations with TD Canada Trust, and, more recently, experience performing bookkeeping services for small businesses.
Julia’s education has included training in Organizational Behaviour and Communications through the Institute of Canadian Bankers. She has also strived to maintain her professional knowledge through completion of numerous courses such as Credit Decision Power, Fraud Recognition, Developing Customer Service Excellence, Customer Problem Resolution, and Dispute Resolution.
Julia’s interest in accounting grew after her move from a large organization to a small business environment necessitated more direct involvement in daily accounting transactions. She enjoys the unique challenges which arise from providing individualized bookkeeping services to a variety of companies, and enjoys providing exceptional customer service to clients.
Kelli Gosse
Senior Bookkeeper
Kelli brings the best of both worlds to Digits and Decimals. She's a self-proclaimed ''people person' who likes numbers. And with nearly 20 years of experience in bookkeeping, the clients and numbers like her. She has worked in the software, music, construction equipment, printing, electrical and gating industries as well as non-profit organizations. Where Kelli excels is in researching and problem-solving. She loves the pressure of rising to the challenge and is well versed in the accounting software programs that often help resolve those challenges. Now if only there was a software program for parenting her three children!
Joey Wheeler
Administrative Assistant
Joey is the friendly voice you'll hear when you call Digits and Decimals. She brings to the team a wealth of experience drawn from her time spent in healthcare, law firms and mortgage brokerages. Within those environments, she has seen it all - the highs and lows of start-ups to closures, and the transitions from public administration to privatization. As administrative assistant, she brings the strength of organization and prioritization. She is critical to making the Digits and Decimals office run smoothly.
Joey is active in the care of seniors in her community. Her sporting pastimes include tennis and keeping up with her large family.
